diatom.org is an educational and scientific, non-profit corporation in the State of Vermont founded by Stacy and Robert Edgar. Federal 501(c)(3) status is pending.

stacy@diatom.org Stacy received her doctoral degree in 2003 from the Department of Botany / Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin, under the supervision of Ed Theriot, and then conducted post-doctoral work at the Bigelow Marine Laboratory in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Her research interests have focussed on morphometric and molecular approaches to phylogeny and evolution of the freshwater planktonic diatom genus Aulacoseira.

robert@diatom.org Robert is Professor Emeritus of Biology at the University of Massachusetts, where he taught courses in population biology, evolution and Darwin's Origin of Species and published research on diatoms for 34 years. He has curated the diatom collections at the Farlow Herbarium of Cryptogamic Botany at Harvard University since 1976.
